FAQ
What do your cakes taste like?
All of my cakes are made from scratch using the freshest ingredients. I have spent years refining my recipes, and invest extra time while preparing my cakes to ensure they are flavourful, fluffy, and moist throughout.
What type of frosting do you use?
The type of frosting I use is called Swiss Meringue Buttercream. This buttercream is a less-sweet and fluffier version of a traditional American Buttercream. This buttercream gets its volume from whipped egg whites instead of from sugar, making it half as sweet as the American Buttercream. This type of buttercream does not form a crust on the outside, and will maintain its velvety texture when at room temperature.
How should I transport my cake and store it when I get home?
When transporting your cake home, it should be kept on a flat surface such as the trunk or floor of the car. Keep it away from direct sun and have A/C on it if required. You may want to place it in a bag or box to keep it from sliding around.
To store your cake at home, it keeps best in the fridge, but can be kept on the counter for up to 8 hours. If kept in the fridge, take it out 3-4 hours prior to serving to bring it to room temperature.
Can someone else pick up my cake for me?
Yes. Just let me know that someone else will be picking your cake up for you, and please provide contact info for them, as well as provide them with my contact info.
Where are you located for pick up?
Pick up is conveniently located in Kingston’s Portsmouth neighbourhood.
Do you offer delivery and set-up?
Delivery and set-up is only available for multi-tier cakes and orders greater than $400. Delivery is an additional fee, and is calculated at an hourly rate of $50, and accounts for round-trip drive time from downtown Kingston and any time spent for set-up.
Are you able to cater to allergies?
I do not work out of an allergy-safe kitchen, and cannot make any guarantees with regards to cross contamination.
Do you do edible printing?
Yes! I offer edible prints at an additional cost of $10 per sheet. Each sheet can typically cover 1 cake top or a dozen cupcakes/cookies.
Do you make custom toppers?
Yes! The price of toppers depends on the material and complexity that you’re looking for – please contact me for more info.
